shoes

Sam Edelman

Every time I go to Nordstrom or some other department store, I always try on Sam Edelman’s. I absolutely love every single shoe he comes out with. I haven’t been feeling well (I’m trying to get diagnosed…) so when I’m feeling low, trying on these shoes make me so happy.

B-a-n-a-n-a-s

I’m at school right now and I have quite a bit of time to kill before my next class.

I had an online class this morning and I was incredibly bored at our apartment. I still have yet to get a job. Any takers? Going once… going twice… yeah, I didn’t think so. So I sit here in the school library, jobless… book-less (still need to buy textbooks)… boyfriend-less (we’ll worry about that later)… hungry (Cup-o-noodles in my purse was, by far, not enough)… and bored.

What does one do when such dilemmas are forced down upon thee?

1. We check Facebook

2. We awkwardly stare at hot guys walking by our table

3. We search our purse for something to eat

4. We try to listen to music… but iTunes is being stupid

5. We try to figure out a way to solve our “boyfriend situation”

6. We swivel around in our chair until we start to get sick

7. We post annoyingly long wall-posts on our sister’s Facebook wall

8. We Tweet about useless, boring things (i.e. “Just had a banana nut muffin”)

9. We start to sing “Holla Back Girl” because they spell b-a-n-a-n-a-s in the lyrics

10. And of course, We study all the Fall trends/looks that are becoming very popular

So my roommate just popped in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and I lay on the ground, my head swimming with fever… the best thing I can think of to do is study trends for fall as I’m entertained by Harry, Ron and Hermione.

Nicholas Kirkwood

Ok, so my new favorite shoe designer of the moment is Nicholas Kirkwood.

His whole shoe line is funky fresh and fun. I especially love the angled platforms.

What kind of privileges are bestowed on our dear friend Mr. Kirkwood for being my shoe designer of the moment? Well…

1) He is added to my list of favorite shoe designers, of course.

2) I get to relish the fact that I can’t afford any of his said shoes, and therefore complain and lust after them.

3) His shoes will become wallpaper on my Twitter page.

4) I will collect all my favorite shoes in iPhoto, under my “Shoes” file.

5) I will annoy my friends with the fact that I have a new favorite designer.

Spring/Summer 2010

Spring/Summer 2009

Shoetastic!

So I have officially have been in Long Beach for about a week now. Still getting used to everything.

I haven’t had a lot of time to update you with fashionable anecdotes, but I have been taking note of many beautiful shoes that have taken my breath away. I didn’t document the designers names for some reason [sorry.]

But I do have a general sense of who, what and where. They range from Alexander McQueen, Camilla Skovgaard, Charlotte Olympia, Versace, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, etc.

I LOVE THEM.

Wannabe

I love messing with the salespeople at Neiman Marcus.

My family and I recently went on a trip to Los Angeles for the weekend in search of an apartment for me. And in the process, we visited Fashion Island… Yes, Fashion Island. Doesn’t that sound wonderful? I would love to be Gillagin on that type of island. But in reality, it’s not an actual island [insert disappointment] but just huge mall. A beautiful city of a mall.

Of course I wanted to visit all of the major department stores and boutiques. When I saw that they had a Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdale’s… Oh gosh, I was embarrassing. Just picture a little kid who is visiting Disneyland for the first time… that was me. I’m not saying I’ve never been to those fine establishments before, it’s just a rare experience because those stores are not close to my hometown.

Neiman Marcus is my favorite. Right when I walk into the holy of holies, I get very intimidated from the well dressed employees and the clinically clean floors. Since I have a shoe and purse fetish [Hi, I’m Lauren. And I have a problem] I went straight to those said departments. Oh… oh those shoes… beautiful. My mom and sister tried on Louboutins while I drooled over some feathered Valentino’s.

I then separated from the pack and wandered into the wonderful land of purses. In my wallet, I probably have enough to buy a pack of gum… but what the Neiman Marcus salespeople don’t know, won’t hurt them. I pretend that I’m a very successful career woman and I try on the Balenciaga’s, Louis Vuitton’s, Prada and Gucci. I ask questions about the suede interiors, ask about cleaning techniques, types of leathers. I get the sales person very excited that they might be making a sale… and then I pretend that my mom is calling my cell and I have to go. I know it’s cruel, but it’s more cruel to not let me get a purse. Believe me, I would more than love to help them make commission. One day… that’s all that I can keep telling myself. One day I’ll be able to be a regular customer at Neiman Marcus… If not work there. Oh, but a girl can only dream.

Nicola Formichetti

I am OBSESSED with Nicola Formichetti. It’s mind-blowing how much of a style genius he is. Incase you don’t know who he is… he is Fashion Director of VOGUE HOMMES JAPAN, Creative director of DAZED & CONFUSED, Contributing fashion editor of V, V MAN, ANOTHER , ANOTHER MAN. In addition, he is also the stylist behind Lady Gaga’s looks.
